Mitsume ga Tooru with guest Hiroyuki Iwatsuki – PA78

mitsume ga tooru NES famicom Pixelated Audio Hiroyuki iwatsuki interview

Mitsume ga Tooru might not have made a western appearance, but what’s not to love? The gameplay is simple, accessible, and challenging – but not in a frustrating ‘rage-quit’ way, we loved it. Honestly, the soundtrack is awesome and going to be a lot of fun to listen to together with you. Composer, Hiroyuki Iwatsuki, makes an appearance as well to provide some extra insight on the game and his career.

I really like the darker tracks on this game. Also, the funky grooved are really nice. For some reason, a lot of the soundtrack sounds similar to Konami games. I wonder why that is.

It’s really cool that they stumbled onto a unique musical sound with the echo, simply to compress space.

Thanks NORM, glad you liked the show! The echo effect is what totally does it for me. Without it, I’m sure it just wouldn’t have the same appeal. Iwatsuki may not have been a fan of the NES sound hardware but he sure did an awesome job using it ;)
